A guided glacier hike lets you walk on the ice with crampons, past crevasses and ice formations you can't see from the road. Tours run all year, most often on Sólheimajökull near Vík or on the glaciers around Skaftafell. Your guide provides the safety gear, so you only need warm layers and sturdy boots.
